How we view a few things

Go a bit deeper into the values that make up how we believe.
What's so important about the Bible?

We believe that the God of the universe has spoken to us through the Bible. We recognize it as the final say for our lives. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Who is God?

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons as explained in the Bible: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are One.

What about us?

People are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. We were created to have a relationship with God but became separated in that relationship through disobedience. As a result, we cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort. Each one of us is uniquely created, possess dignity, and worthy of respect and love.

What happens after we die?

People were created to exist forever. One will either exist eternally separated from God by what the Bible calls sin, or in union with God, through God’s forgiveness and salvation. When you die, you will either spend forever in Heaven or Hell. Eternal separation from God happens in Hell. Eternal union with God occurs in Heaven.

Romans 6:23
Revelation 20:15

Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of everyone by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

What does "salvation" mean?

Salvation is a gift from God. People can never make up for what they have done wrong by self-improvement or good works. The only way to be saved from the penalty of our wrong doing (a.k.a. sin) is by trusting in Jesus as God’s offer of forgiveness. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus into his life by faith.

John 14:6; 1:12
Titus 3:5
Galatians 3:26

How can we be sure that followers of Jesus live forever?

God is the One that gives eternal life through Jesus Christ. The person who truly believes in Jesus can be secure in this salvation for eternity. Why? This salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of a person. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.

2 Timothy 1:12
Hebrews 7:25; 10:10-14
1 Peter 1:3-5

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son (Jesus) as God. The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus and the work He has done. The Holy Spirit also lives in every follower of Jesus from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. Followers of Jesus seek to live under the control of the Holy Spirit daily.
